What does "Both the price and your GIGS bought are prorated after the 20th of the month" mean?

pro·rate (pr-rt, prrt)
v. pro·rat·ed, pro·rat·ing, pro·rates
v. tr.
To divide, distribute, or assess proportionately. (source: dictionary.com)

The best way to illustrate this is via an example. Lets assume you subscribe on the 24 of April to the 192/64k service. Instead of been billed R100 and getting a 3 gig cap, you will be charged R20 for this month, but will only get 600 megs of traffic.

How did that work?

April has 30 days, you subscribed on the 24 of the month. So (30-24) = 6 days left in the month. 6/30 = 0.2

0.2 x 3 Gigs = 0.6 Gigs= 600Mb

0.2 x R100 = R20
